SHOOT & SHARE: Free Teen Photography Outing

SEARCHING THE SKIES: AN EVENING AT EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY

This evening will be hosted by Dr. Jason Aufdenberg and Dr. Peter Erdman, both professors of Physics and Astronomy at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Students will be introduced to the university’s new astronomical observatory, which houses the Physics and Astronomy Lab, the Observatory Control Room, and the Observatory Workshop. Learn how research is conducted, and how unique imagery is recorded utilizing the university’s 1-meter telescope, along with other cameras and support instrumentation. Dr. Peter Erdman will be sharing a selection of his photographic works, and explaining the special considerations and technical challenges inherent in astrophotography.

Meets at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, College of Arts and Sciences - Building 419

This program gives teens an opportunity to photograph as a group while receiving feedback and advice on camera exposure, composition techniques and troubleshooting on location. There is no charge for this program, but participants are expected to bring their own cameras and arrange for their own transportation.
