Please be aware that a criminal background check may be performed. Daytona State College provides this service to maximize the safety of their students.

VOLUNTEER OPPURTUNITIES

Museum Greeter:

Welcome, direct and engage visitors, distribute general information, assist Front Desk staff and gallery attendants. Take initiative to assist visitors as needed (i.e. open doors, locate a wheelchair, etc.) Assist visitors with wayfinding, explain the layout of museum and handout maps, flyers or brochures as needed. Answer general questions about SMP. Politely and friendly engage visitors and invite them to fill out museum’s comments book. Corral large groups, monitor Lobby area and assist in galleries as directed by gallery attendants. Help greeting people at museum events.

Museum Docent:

Create an engaging atmosphere for museum visitors, answer visitor questions and provide information related to current exhibits and programs. Lead tours of the exhibit galleries, promote events and Friends Group Membership; provide customer service at all levels of the visitor experience. May assist with educational programming and special projects as assigned.

Fundraising Volunteer:

Assist the Friends Group and Fundraising Committee of the Southeast Museum of Photography (SMP) Advisory Council in establishing a fundraising platform(s) for SMP. This may include help with peer-to-peer campaign, promoting membership to the Friends Group, building valuable relationships with local businesses, identifying potential donors, assisting with fundraising events, and attending business mixers & afterhours. It is expected this volunteer to be very familiar with the surrounding communities & business world and be able to introduce/connect members of the Friends Group, Fundraising Committee and Museum Director to movers and shakers of these communities, and to prospective supporters of the SMP.

Museum Ambassador:

Assist with museum outreach to community. Skillfully present information about SMP in a clear and concise manner. Confident in speaking to the public and raising awareness of SMP and its mission. Assist in improving museum’s visibility. Deliver marketing materials to community organizations and businesses. Inspire people to support SMP. Represent SMP at community events and gatherings through staffing a table with information/marketing materials about exhibitions and programs, answering questions, and engaging members of the public in conversations. Create networking opportunities for SMP.
