from uncrated to curated

The Southeast Museum of Photography’s teen curation program, UNCRATED, gives local students the opportunity to create an exhibition featuring works by contemporary artists.

Students work closely as a team to create an immersive exhibition that highlights details about both the artists and their works. Students benefit from a multifaceted approach–learning about traditional roles in a museum, creative problem-solving techniques, and the production (planning, research and design) that all take place behind-the-scenes.

Interested in LEARNING what it's all about?

To qualify, applicants must be high school students in grades 9–12. Applicants must also be available to meet at Daytona State College on select Wednesdays or Thursdays, from 4-5:30pm.

Workshops can include topics such as the preservation of family photographs, archiving and cataloging, basic digital camera operations and composition techniques, and even intermediate to advanced lighting and editing techniques. Due to limited space, advance registration and payment is required.

These small-group sessions allow veterans to meet and learn from professional artists, to discover and cultivate their own talents, and to transform their experiences through the thoughtful and therapeutic form of self-expression.
