The Power of Visual Storytelling

This intensive one-day workshop is led by Dr. Lauren Walsh, a professor and director of the Gallatin Photojournalism Lab at NYU and Andrea Bruce, an award-winning photographer who has covered historic events globally. The workshop entails informative lectures by the teachers and hands-on activities, and participants learn about the value of photojournalism, deepen skills to create powerful visuals, and develop a stronger eye for visual narratives. A background in photography is encouraged, but not required. Participants can use their preferred digital camera (DSLR, smart phone, etc). 


Spaces are limited! You do not need to be a Daytona State College student to participate. This workshop is open to everyone. Deadline to sign up is November 15. Interested participants can sign up by emailing Christina Katsolis at christina.katsolis@daytonastate.edu

Enrolled participants must submit the following by November 15:
1) a brief overview of your background/training in photography 2) five of your best photographs (file size under 5 MB) 3) your hopes for this workshop. Please email Lauren Walsh at lmw242@nyu.edu with the subject line "SMP workshop".
