Zoom Artist Talk with Mac Stone

Please join the Southeast Museum of Photography for a virtual artist talk by internationally recognized, award-winning conservation photographer Mac Stone on August 26, 2020 at 6pm by clicking this link.

ABOUT THE EVENT:

In conjunction with the exhibition Primitive Florida, Mac Stone will be speaking about his career as a conservation photographer, sharing highlights, unique details and even a few anecdotes behind some of his iconic shots. A native Floridian, biologist, and award-winning photographer, Stone has been creating awareness of the ecological challenges taking place within the Everglades watershed for years. Stone has spent countless hours exploring the deepest reaches of its slow-running water, home to dozens of threatened and endangered species, and the source of drinking water for 8 million Floridians. Between intimate close-ups and sweeping aerial views, Stone’s imagery brings this unique environment to the public’s eye. His photographs represent the varied and interconnected biological threads that form the unique tapestry of the Everglades. He understands that the health of the whole depends on the strength of each thread, and that influencing public opinion about this undervalued ecological wonder is the only way to save it.

A discussion of his career will be followed by a Q&A session open to the public.

This event is limited to a 100 viewer capacity - first come, first served.

The live stream will be recorded for future viewing.
